Laboratory evolution experiments play a central role in characterizing the repeatability and predictability of evolution. To distinguish predictable patterns from the inherent stochasticity of evolution, we conduct massively parallel evolution experiment under controlled conditions and evolutionary parameters. This central project establishes state-of-the-art techniques for the evolution of thousands of microbial cultures, which are of use for the CRC projects and beyond.
